Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking enthusiastic Trainee Special Needs Teaching Assistant in Leeds to support children with SEND and SEMH across partner schools. The role involves working in special schools, specialist provisions or PRU environments with day-to-day responsibilities supporting learners’ educational and pastoral needs.

Hours are 8:00–3:00 or 8:30–3:30, Monday to Friday. Full training and support are provided as you develop within this role in a safeguarding-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 days availability per week Monday–Friday 8:30am–3:30pm.
• Provide full CV history back to compulsory education.
• Complete an interview process.
• Hold, or be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS, registered to the Update Service.
• Undergo a thorough referencing process.

Responsibilities

• Support SEND learners or young people with SEMH in various settings in Leeds schools.
• Assist with learning, personal and pastoral needs of students.
• Be proactive, supportive and engaged in busy classroom environments.
