About the role
As a Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced staff to support pupils with a range of learning needs. You’ll receive ongoing training and mentorship, gaining practical experience while developing the skills required to progress in the SEN education sector.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the learning and development of pupils with SEN in a classroom setting.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and activities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all learners.
- Help with personal care and mobility needs, where necessary.
- Observe and report on student progress to teachers and SENCOs.

- A genuine interest in working with children and young people with special educational needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and undertake training.
- Experience is not essential – just a positive attitude and a desire to grow in the role.
