Trainee Rotating Equipment Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a dynamic team and develop their engineering career. Working alongside the Rotating Equipment Managers, you will gain new skills and assist in improving the availability, reliability, and performance of high-speed rotating equipment. You will also help plan and deliver major work scopes. The position is Monday to Friday, with a mix of field and office-based work; hands-on skills are essential.
As a trainee, there will be ample opportunities for learning and development. Prior knowledge, both practical and theoretical, of high-speed rotating equipment and support systems is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with planned maintenance activities for all rotating equipment as directed by Rotating Equipment Managers.
- Attend vendor coordination meetings, project HAZOPs, and design review meetings.
- Assist with drafting project commissioning procedures and reviewing vendors' machinery test procedures, including witness testing.
- Assist with repair and overhaul of onshore and offshore high-speed rotating equipment, including vendor supervision.
- Help develop and refine maintenance strategies for high-speed rotating equipment, including basic care requirements, planned tasks, and condition-based monitoring.
- Support the development and application of gas turbine and compressor performance monitoring programs.
- Assist in failure mode analysis of high-speed rotating equipment.
- Conduct critical spares reviews for all rotating equipment.
- Maintain tooling inventories, ensuring all tools are accounted for, functional, and calibrated.
- Update maintenance management systems to keep planning and execution data current and accurate.
- Develop personal competencies and identify training needs to support key tasks.
- Promote compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Key Requirements:
- Engineering Degree or HNC/HND in a relevant field, or relevant experience.
- Knowledge and experience in supporting and maintaining high-speed rotating equipment.
- A passion for engineering and curiosity about rotating equipment.
- Creative, innovative thinking with problem-solving skills.
- A self-starter with a desire to learn and research independently.
