Job description

We are seeking new reporters to join our vibrant Midlands-based newsroom.

You will be part of a team producing the Worcester News – a daily newspaper with a rapidly expanding digital audience – as well as the Malvern Gazette and Evesham Journal.

Worcester is a beautiful Cathedral city on the river Severn, close to the Malvern Hills and Cotswolds, with excellent transport links to Birmingham, the Midlands, and the South West.

Our approach involves engaging with the community actively; our reporters attend various news events throughout the day, reporting for our website, social media feeds, and print editions.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be capable of delivering Facebook Lives, creating videos and photographs, and filing accurate, engaging copy.

This role involves reporting on a range of topics, including breaking news, shop openings, drug raids, local events, court stories, and human interest pieces. We cover it all!

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We welcome applications from trainee reporters seeking their first newsroom role, as well as experienced journalists.

Reporting roles involve weekend work and early and late shifts on a rota. Candidates must have a driving license and access to a vehicle.

Reporters are expected to meet audience engagement goals by identifying compelling stories, distributing content across various platforms, and leveraging social media and SEO to increase reach.

Whether you see yourself as a budding patch reporter eager to build contacts or a TikTok enthusiast, we will provide training and support to help you develop and present your stories effectively, aiming to make them must-reads and helping you progress to senior roles within top titles of one of the UK’s leading news publishers.
