Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented R&D Tax Junior to join our growing tax team within a dynamic accountancy practice. This role provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in tax advisory, specialising in Research & Development (R&D) tax incentives. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support clients in preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims, with training provided throughout.
Key Responsibilities
• Completion of initial admin steps when onboarding new clients
• Assist in the preparation and submission of R&D tax credit claims for a broad range of clients.
• Assist with tax compliance tasks, including gathering relevant data for tax returns, reviewing financial information, and ensuring that all documents are completed accurately and on time.
• Gather and analyse technical and financial information to support R&D claims.
• Liaise with clients to understand their business activities and identify qualifying R&D projects.
• Work closely with colleagues across tax, accounts, and audit teams to ensure accurate and compliant claims.
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation and HMRC guidance related to R&D tax relief.
• Support in maintaining accurate records and documentation for claims.
• Undertake research to support technical discussions and reports.
• Provide administrative assistance to the R&D team as required.
• Develop the ability to handle client queries and offer clear, concise responses.
• Develop a solid understanding of tax legislation and its application in various contexts.
• Attend training sessions, both internal and external, to further your knowledge of tax and accounting practices.
• Actively apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings and contribute to the team's success.
• Contribute to the firm's business growth by delivering excellent client service and supporting the firm's values.
• Actively participate in team activities, supporting colleagues and fostering a collaborative environment.
Key Requirements
• Degree or A-levels in a relevant subject (Accounting, Finance, Science, Engineering, Technology, or similar) or working towards AAT/ATT/ACCA/ACA qualifications.
• Enthusiasm to learn and develop knowledge of R&D tax incentives.
Additional Requirements
• Interest or background in science, engineering, software, or technical fields.
• Awareness of UK R&D tax relief schemes
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling numbers and financial data.
• Strong desire to learn and develop professionally in tax and accounting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong team player, dependable, and proactive.
