Job description

We are currently seeking a Trainee Quality Inspector to join a well-established and innovative manufacturing client based in East Sussex. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in quality inspection and engineering, with hands-on training and development in a supportive environment.
About the Role:
As a Trainee Quality Inspector, you will play a vital role in maintaining high-quality standards across components, assemblies, and finished goods. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Measuring and inspecting mechanical components and assemblies against engineering drawings using a range of metrology tools, including Faro Arm (CMM) equipment.
  • Testing and validating parts with precision instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Inspecting welds for visual conformity and reporting any defects.
  • Documenting non-conformances, investigating root causes, and supporting corrective actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Championing quality standards, ensuring all final products meet customer expectations and internal requirements.

About You:
We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience working to ISO 9001 standards.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • A solid understanding of quality and process management tools.
  • Hands-on experience using CMM or Faro Arm and other metrology equipment common in a machining environment.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Familiarity with welding and fabrication processes (desirable but not essential).
  • A qualification at BTEC/HNC/HND level in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
