We are seeking a passionate Trainee/Qualified Single Discipline RPR Advocate to join our Camden & Islington Advocacy Team.
As part of an organization committed to supporting those severely impacted by mental illness, we value respect, dignity, and equity. We leverage the expertise, perspectives, and lived experiences of our team to foster an inclusive, anti-racist environment that reflects the diverse communities we serve.
As a qualified and/or experienced independent advocate, you will provide RPR to eligible individuals within community or care settings, including secure facilities, hospitals, care homes, supported living, and temporary accommodations.
As a Trainee Advocate (unqualified), you will enroll in the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification, complete it within the set timeframe, and shadow experienced team members. You will learn to provide support, develop advocacy skills, and eventually manage your own caseload. The role involves representing individuals deprived of their liberty, empowering them to understand their rights, and challenging capacity assessments when necessary.
Advocacy involves supporting individuals in decision-making about their care, treatment, and living arrangements, especially when communication is difficult. Our integrated service offers statutory and non-statutory advocacy across various settings, working with health and social care partners.
We value diversity and inclusiveness, supporting staff networks for ethnic and LGBTQIA+ colleagues, and are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and signatory to the Race at Work Charter. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience of mental illness, neurodiversity, disabilities, or from ethnically diverse communities.
You will have opportunities for professional development, funded training, and access to various benefits, including:
"From the start, I felt welcomed and respected. I’ve been able to contribute ideas and develop my skills."
"Working here is rewarding. I support volunteers and create opportunities to benefit our community."
"This is the best employer I’ve had—care about staff and make a real difference."
"Being part of this organization feels meaningful and rewarding."
