Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-motivated Biomedical Scientist/Trainee Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology team at Path Links, Scunthorpe General Hospital. The laboratory is equipped with a variety of analysers including the BioMerieux BacT/Alert, BioMerieux Vitek, Cepheid GeneXpert, Roche Cobas 5800, Qiagen Qiastat, and Beckman Coulter iQ200.

The laboratory delivers a range of investigations, is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189:2012, and is an IBMS approved training laboratory.

You will work as part of the Microbiology team to provide a high-quality service while adhering to the Trust values of Compassion, Honesty, Respect, and Teamwork.

The post holder will perform a range of microbiological techniques to assist in the clinical diagnosis of microbiological disease, rotating through all sections of Microbiology and Serology.

Following training, the post holder will participate in the 24/7 shift rota, which includes working weekends, bank holidays, and night shifts.

You will assist the Deputy Laboratory Managers with tasks such as supervision, training, and maintaining UKAS accreditation.
