Job summary

Living Well Consortium invites applications for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join NHS Talking Therapies in Birmingham. The one-year traineeship includes one study day per week at Newman University, placement within a Living Well Consortium provider, and allocated study time.

Trainees will qualify as PWPs at the end of the programme and are employed by a Living Well Consortium Service Provider.

Qualifications

• Level 5 qualification or undergraduate degree in psychology.
• Experience supporting people with psychological, interpersonal or social problems desirable.
• Willingness to undertake training and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Attend course training on scheduled days.
• Accept referrals and develop care packages.
• Assess and support people with common mental health problems in self-management.
• Conduct patient-centred interviews to identify goals and assess risk.
• Refer and triage referrals per protocols; step up to high intensity therapy when needed.
• Provide information and support for high-volume low-intensity treatments (e.g., guided self-help).
• Collaborate with family/support networks; participate in MDT meetings.
• Maintain records, data collection, and clinical governance compliance.
• Ensure inclusive practice and promotes recovery and diversity.
• Prepare clinical information for case management supervisors.
