Job summary

Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner role in our Talking Therapies service for County Durham and Darlington. You will split time between university study and service work, delivering low‑intensity interventions face‑to‑face and remotely, with supervision and BABCP accreditation targeted after six months of patient contact.

You will assess clients, support adults with learning disabilities who have mental health needs, and benefit from comprehensive training and ongoing professional

Qualifications

• Experience of working with people experiencing mental health difficulties.
• Excellent motivation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive therapeutic relationships and confidence using the telephone.
• High standards of written communication.
• Understanding of working with people with complex needs including learning disabilities.
• Knowledge and experience of working in a community-based service.
• Ability to apply and develop skills gained through training.
• Willingness to learn and work in a multidisciplinary team. A health-related degree is essential; training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or psychology would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and provide face-to-face and remote low-intensity psychological interventions.
• Split time between university attendance and service work to progress BABCP accreditation.
• Support adults with learning disabilities who have concurrent mental health problems.
• Receive extensive clinical and caseload supervision and engage in ongoing professional development.
