We are a small, dynamic accounts practice based in West Wickham, just off the high street, with access to public transport and residential parking. We pride ourselves on providing a personal service to a variety of clients while keeping up to date with current accounting policies.
Job Overview:
As a Trainee Practice Accountant, you will assist account managers and the office manager in providing a wide range of accounting and financial services to our clients. This position is designed to offer on-the-job training along with a study package, allowing you to learn the fundamentals of accounting, taxation, and financial reporting within a dynamic and supportive team environment. The role involves liaising with clients, so strong English communication skills are essential. You will be based full time at our offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist account managers with the practice wide portfolio of clients; Preparation of statutory financial statements from source records and trial balance for limited Companies, LLP’s, partnerships and sole traders applying FRS 102 (1A) and FRS 105 where required; Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns; VAT return preparation; Assist the office manager with client compliance; Interact with clients and assist with routine financial inquiries and provide general support; Prepare formal correspondence to various parties including clients, HMRC and Companies House; Gain proficiency in using accounting software and financial tools to record and process data; Collaborate with other team members, including senior accountants and director, to complete client projects efficiently; Pursue relevant professional qualifications; Keep time cost records for client billing; Maintain the confidentiality of client financial information and adhere to ethical and legal standards; Ad hoc work as required;
Experience and attributes:
A minimum 2:2 bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; Strong analytical and numerical skills and attention to detail; Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software; Proactive approach to work prioritisation and time management; Effective communicator, both verbal and written; A desire to pursue a career in accounting and obtain relevant professional certification;
