Job Title: Trainee Portadam Installer
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £26,508 basic, up to £40,000 with overtime
Onsite part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long‑term development and career progression. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the water industry's most critical challenges while developing your expertise across data, network operations and strategic resolution planning.
The Role
- Review job packs, risk assessments and method statements before starting work.
- Conduct vehicle, equipment and PPE checks to ensure safety and compliance.
- Travel to site safely and on time, wearing correct PPE and company uniform.
- Liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors and colleagues on site.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and work in line with all health and safety procedures.
- Deliver works to required standards, timescales and client expectations.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment throughout the job.
- Complete job sheets, timesheets and digital records accurately using company systems (e.g., easyjob).
- Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly and appropriately.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings and ongoing training as required.
- Use and maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment responsibly.
- Communicate clearly and professionally at all times, representing the company positively.
- Support the development of team members through knowledge sharing and on‑the‑job guidance.
What You’ll Need
- Have a full UK driving licence.
- Happy to stay away from home a few times a month.
- Enjoy being outdoors.
