Job summary

OnSite Central Limited is recruiting a Trainee Portadam Installer in the West Midlands. The role involves reviewing safety documentation, carrying out site and equipment checks, and travelling to sites while adhering to PPE and company standards.

You will support the team with toolbox talks, training, and knowledge sharing, contributing to safe, efficient project delivery in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence is required.
  • Willingness to stay away from home a few times per month.
  • Enjoy outdoor work and site environments.

Responsibilities

  • Review job packs, risk assessments and method statements before starting work.
  • Conduct vehicle, equipment and PPE checks to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Travel to site safely and on time, wearing correct PPE and company uniform.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors and colleagues on site.
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures.
  • Deliver works to required standards, timescales and client expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
  • Complete job sheets and timesheets using company systems.

Job Title: Trainee Portadam Installer

Location: West Midlands

Salary: £26,508 basic, up to £40,000 with overtime

Onsite part of the South Staffordshire Group – a 3,000-strong organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and several leading utility support businesses – offering long‑term development and career progression. The Role
  • Review job packs, risk assessments and method statements before starting work.
  • Conduct vehicle, equipment and PPE checks to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Travel to site safely and on time, wearing correct PPE and company uniform.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors and colleagues on site.
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments and work in line with all health and safety procedures.
  • Deliver works to required standards, timescales and client expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment throughout the job.
  • Complete job sheets, timesheets and digital records accurately using company systems (e.g., easyjob).
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly and appropriately.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings and ongoing training as required.
  • Use and maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment responsibly.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally at all times, representing the company positively.
  • Support the development of team members through knowledge sharing and on‑the‑job guidance.
