Job description

Our client, a well-established & successful family-owned freight forwarder in Southampton, is looking to recruit a Trainee Port & Logistics Coordinator to join their expanding team.

Are you keen to start your career in logistics? Or perhaps you have some experience and want to build on what you've learned to date, gaining more hands-on experience around the port rather than just office-based work? If so, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

The Role:

You will learn to coordinate cruise logistics functions, ensuring goods are moved to and from the port of call in a timely manner while ensuring complete Customs compliance, whether cleared into free circulation or under bond, as appropriate. You will also learn to manage marine logistics to and from destinations worldwide by air & sea. Once trained, you will be responsible for booking shipments, updating systems, handling shipping paperwork, and ensuring a great customer experience. A key part of the role, once fully trained, will involve attending and boarding cruise vessels while in port, which means some weekend work and unsociable hours during peak cruise season. A driving license is essential.

Essential Criteria:
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Driving license
