Job summary

Optima Health is recruiting a Trainee Occupational Health Technician in London, with travel to client sites across the UK. The role involves performing medical assessments, phlebotomy, health surveillance, and promoting wellbeing as part of a mobile clinical team.

You will work under appropriate supervision, delivering safety-critical medicals and supporting occupational health services across national clients.

Qualifications

• Sports and Exercise Science or a related field (Desirable).
• Experience with health screening.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• IT/PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow training and undertake clinical activities such as phlebotomy, blood pressure checks and health surveillance.
• Assist with service delivery including driver's medicals and Well Person medicals.
• Undertake workplace visits related to occupational health within scope of practice.
• Deliver, record and report health surveillance; escalate concerns to a clinician.
• Support Occupational Nursing employees with clinical activities.
• Maintain clinical areas per protocols; stock checks and room readiness for clinics.
• Promote employee health and wellbeing.
• Undertake UK-wide travel including overnight stays; drive mobile screening unit when required.
• Use IT systems to measure and report screening outcomes and findings.
• Undertake other duties as directed by Line Manager; model Optima Health values.

Job Title: Trainee Occupational Health Technician
Location: London with travel - Must be within 1 hour of EC1V 9AZ
Salary: £29,500 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday
Must have a full UK Driving License and own vehicle
Right to live and work in the UK is also required

Role Summary

With appropriate support and training in place, you will be at the forefront of our clinical delivery, performing a range of medical assessments across a wide variety of customers. Working solo or as part of a team at our clients' sites, you will deliver safety-critical medicals and promote wellbeing initiatives across our portfolio of national clients.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

• Following training and assessment, undertake agreed clinical activities, including phlebotomy, blood pressure checks, drug and alcohol screening, and health surveillance.
• Assist with service delivery, including driver's medicals, Well Person medicals and other required services.
• Undertake workplace visits relating to occupational health issues within the OHT's scope of practice.
• Deliver, record and report health surveillance, escalating any results of concern to a specialist nursing or medical clinician.
• Support Occupational Nursing Employees with the clinical activities of the business.
• Maintain clinical areas in line with protocols and checklists, including cleaning, stock checks, replenishing supplies and ensuring rooms are ready for daily clinics.
• Promote employee health and wellbeing.
• Undertake UK-wide travel, including overnight stays where required.
• Drive a mobile clinical screening unit when required.
• Use a range of IT systems and tools to measure and report screening outcomes and findings.
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility, as directed by the Line Manager.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required for the role
