Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Trainee Multidisciplinary Advocate to join our Wandsworth and Richmond Advocacy Team.

Join an organization dedicated to supporting individuals severely impacted by mental illness. We value respect, dignity, equity, diversity, and inclusion, drawing on the lived experiences of our team to become an inclusive, anti-racist employer and service provider that reflects the communities we serve.

Advocacy involves supporting individuals to participate in decisions about their care, treatment, and living arrangements. Advocates help clients understand their options and communicate their wishes, especially when they find it difficult to speak up.

Our service provides various advocacy services to adults and children across different settings, including statutory and non-statutory support in secure units, hospitals, care settings, and communities.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Enroll in and complete the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification within a set timeframe.
  • Shadow experienced team members and gradually take on caseloads.
  • Receive training in advocacy types, safeguarding, and understand advocacy boundaries.
  • Empower clients to understand their rights and support self-advocacy.
  • Provide statutory and non-statutory advocacy in various settings, including secure facilities, hospitals, care homes, and clients' homes.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:

We value diversity and inclusiveness, supporting staff networks for various communities, including ethnically diverse, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, and disabled colleagues. We are an accredited Disability Confident Employer and a signatory to the Race at Work Charter. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and experiences to reflect the diverse communities we serve.

Our Anti-Racist Commitment:

We aim to become a truly anti-racist organization through our Race Equality Action Plan, holding ourselves accountable and making tangible progress towards this goal.
