Job summary

EGGER UK in Auchinleck is adding a Mechanical Tradesperson (Trainee Mechanical Fitter) to its engineering team. You will work alongside experienced professionals to maintain and improve production equipment through practical, on‑the‑job training and development.

No prior fitter experience is required; a mechanical background with motivation to learn will be supported by a proactive training programme aimed at progression to Mechanical Fitter.

Qualifications

• Mechanical background gained through employment, apprenticeship, college studies, military service or vocational training.
• Good practical problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planned preventative maintenance activities across the site.
• Learn to diagnose and repair mechanical faults on production equipment.
• Support breakdown response activities to help minimise downtime.
• Assist with the installation, maintenance and improvement of machinery and plant systems.
• Develop knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
• Support engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
