Job summary

Tillicoultry Quarries is recruiting a Trainee Materials Technician to support our Ely site. You will be involved in sampling, testing and reporting on aggregates, concrete and road surfacing materials while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

The role requires accuracy, reliability and the ability to work well in a busy site environment, with training and development opportunities offered within a long‑standing, family‑owned company.

Qualifications

• Sampling and physical testing of aggregates, concrete and road surfacing materials.
• Liaising directly with customers and colleagues as technical support.
• To conform with all site quality management systems and health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sampling and physical testing of aggregates, concrete and road surfacing materials.
• Site sampling, processing and testing ready-mix concrete.
• Laboratory equipment calibration.
• Administration of all laboratory reports.
• Conform with site quality management systems and health and safety procedures.
• Work with high accuracy and follow procedures.
• Flexible with working hours and willing to overtime when required.
• Work as part of a team and individually.

Tillicoultry Quarries is a successful and fast-growing family-owned quarrying company and major supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete, mortar, render and sports sand to the building and road construction industry. We operate in over 35 sites throughout Central Scotland, the North East of England and East Anglia.

Due to our continued success and rapid growth an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Materials Technician to support our site in Ely. The successful candidate should be customer focused, reliable, well organised and be able to work well as part of a team in a busy site environment.
