Job description

This is a challenging junior trainee role suited for a motivated, hands-on maintenance or engineering professional with experience in basic fault finding, repair, ppm, servicing, and maintenance of plant equipment. Candidates must have operational maintenance experience, with training provided for the rest. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as an operator, mechanical technician, or in a similar role involving servicing, repairing, and fixing equipment on site
  • Experience in plant equipment maintenance in industries such as manufacturing, engineering, water, chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, nuclear, pharmaceutical, paper manufacturing, or heavy machinery environments
  • Engineering qualifications such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-mechanical, NVQ, C&G in welding, fitting, pipework, or other hands-on trades
  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to reach remote sites, with full eligibility to work without sponsorship
  • Residence within 1 hour of the Alton site, as there will be call-outs. The role involves shifts from 6am-6pm and 7 days on, 7 days off, then 7 nights on, 7 nights off. Candidates must be willing and able to work these shifts
  • A genuine willingness to learn and develop long-term, as scheduled full training will be provided, including engineering and NEBOSH safety qualifications

The role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. The primary purpose is to carry out corrective (non-routine) and preventative (routine) maintenance at the production facilities and sites in Hampshire. A detailed job description will be provided upon application.
