Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Hours: 48 hours per week

Recently completed an Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC or HND and looking for the opportunity to build your career as a Maintenance Engineer?

We're recruiting for a successful manufacturing business in Norfolk that is looking for someone at the beginning of their engineering career to join its established maintenance team.

You don't need years of maintenance experience.

This could suit someone who has recently finished an engineering apprenticeship or qualification and now wants a role where they can develop practical mechanical and electrical maintenance skills alongside experienced engineers.

What will you learn?

Working as part of the site's engineering team, you'll develop hands-on experience across:

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Mechanical maintenance and repairs
  • Electrical fault finding
  • Machinery breakdowns
  • Motors, gearboxes, bearings and conveyors
  • Production and manufacturing equipment
  • Machinery adjustments and changeovers
  • Fault diagnosis and problem solving
  • Continuous improvement

You’ll initially work closely with experienced Maintenance Engineers, with your responsibility increasing as your skills and confidence develop.

Who are we looking for?

We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have recently completed:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship
  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering
  • BTEC Engineering
  • HNC/HND Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Electrical Engineering qualification
  • Mechatronics or similar engineering qualification

Previous food manufacturing experience isn't required.

You could currently be working as an Engineering Apprentice, Engineering Technician, Junior Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Electrical Technician or Production Engineer and looking to take your next step into maintenance.

What's most important is that you're hands-on, mechanically or electrically minded and genuinely want to develop into a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer.

What's on offer?
  • £35,000 - £40,000 salary
  • Opportunity to develop into a fully-figured Maintenance Engineer
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical training
  • Support from an experienced engineering team
  • Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery
  • Long-term career progression
  • Permanent position with an established manufacturer
Working hours

The role works a 48-hour week, rotating between:

  • Monday-Friday: 07:00-17:10
  • Tuesday-Saturday: Tuesday-Friday 08:50-19:00 and Saturday 07:00-17:10

Due to the site's location, you’ll need a driving licence and your own transport.

If you've recently completed your engineering training and are struggling to find an employer willing to give you the opportunity to build your maintenance experience, this could be exactly that opportunity.
