Responsibilities

Leveraged Syndicate is responsible for the pricing, underwriting and syndication of leveraged loans and high yield bonds across the EMEA region. The team works closely with origination business lines, for Private Equity-backed deals and non-investment grade corporates, as well as partnering with the leveraged syndicate team in the US.

  • Support the senior members of the Leveraged Syndicate team who are responsible for underwriting, structuring and executing Societe Generale's leveraged transactions in EMEA
  • Provide support on both analytical and presentational work, often within tight deadlines
  • Become an invaluable member of the team by producing reliable and accurate market data and comparable analysis in order to assist senior colleagues
  • Promote integrated financing solutions via the preparation of materials for the Leveraged Syndicate teams
  • Whilst working directly for the team, the Trainee will have a mentor whose responsibility it is to ensure the Trainee is learning about all aspects of the business on an ongoing basis
  • The Trainee will be required to support colleagues at all seniority levels
  • The Trainee should be aware of confidentiality requirements at all times

Market analysis:

  • Ensure that the team is provided with up to date market analysis, as well as sharing this analysis with other business lines
  • Preparation of weekly/fortnightly market update materials and other reporting tools, as well as timely reporting to league table publishers
  • Responsibility for maintaining an updated database of comparable transactions (comps) and utilising this database for market analysis

Marketing/syndication/road-show materials:

  • Provide support on the analytical side, help prepare lender/investor presentations and client marketing as well as being extremely organised, with strong time management discipline
  • Preparation of client pitches and other marketing materials including deal tombstones
  • Assist in the creation of syndication/road-show materials: teasers, Information Memoranda, management presentations (involving close co-operation with origination teams)

Administration:

  • Preparation of deal closing files: closing memos, deal summaries which are shared internally with other business lines

Co-operation:

  • Work will often require detailed research and cooperation with other departments within the bank: Sales and Trading, other Syndicate teams (including US and Asia), Origination, Financial Sponsors Coverage

Required Profile

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a good basic knowledge of and interest in financial markets, macroeconomics and related geopolitical events.

  • Excellent time management skills as the role involves multi-tasking, prioritising and meeting tight deadlines
  • Excellent level of written and verbal English – additional languages are advantageous but not essential
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willingness to ask questions and learn new skills
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to work well as part of a diverse team in a busy office environment
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
