Job Description

We are running six separate Trainee Legal Adviser recruitment campaigns for different regions. You can only apply to one campaign. Your first submitted application will determine your preferred region; subsequent applications will not be considered.

Salary: £34,140 pa (National) and £38,661 pa (London).

The role of the legal adviser is vital for HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS). It offers daily learning opportunities for those passionate about law. You should be an excellent communicator, confident in court, and qualified to become a barrister, solicitor, or a graduate member of CILEX. This role involves advising magistrates on points of law, assisting with judgments, and supporting court proceedings.

Learning and Career Development

As a trainee legal adviser, you will work in a dynamic environment, learning new skills daily and helping keep courts operational. Mentorship will be provided throughout your two-year training, with opportunities for career progression within HMCTS.

Role Expectations

You will provide impartial legal advice, conduct case management hearings, liaise with external agencies, and uphold integrity, empathy, and respect in all interactions. You must be resilient, calm under pressure, and tactful.

Qualifications and Skills

Location and Security

You will be based at your agreed location during training and must undergo security vetting before appointment.
