Job description

Trainee Learning Support Assistant - No Experience Required

Coleford, Gloucestershire | £475+ per week | PAYE

Monday-Friday | Immediate Start | Career Progression

Start a career where you can make a difference

Vision for Education is working with a lovely specialist school in Coleford, looking for enthusiastic, reliable and caring people to join their team.

You’ll be supporting children and young people with severe learning difficulties, helping them develop communication skills, confidence and independence.

No previous school or SEN experience is required. What matters is having the right mindset, a genuine passion for helping others and the willingness to learn. If you’re ready to get stuck in, take on new challenges and make a positive difference to children’s lives every day, this could be the perfect opportunity to start your career in education.

What’s in it for you?
  • £475+ per week, paid through PAYE.

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday work.

  • Training courses to help you get your career in education started.

  • Ongoing support and professional development.

  • Excellent opportunities for career progression.

  • A welcoming school with a lovely team and wonderful pupils.

  • Staff events and social activities.

  • The chance to build a rewarding, long-term career in specialist education.

What will you be doing?
  • Supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties and additional needs.

  • Helping children take part in lessons, activities and practical learning.

  • Encouraging communication, confidence and independence.

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff.

  • Learning how to support each pupil’s individual needs.

Every child is different, and even small achievements can make a huge difference. You’ll have the opportunity to celebrate those moments while developing valuable skills and experience.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for people who are ready to learn, get involved and become a valued part of the school team.

You’ll ideally be:

  • Enthusiastic and motivated – keen to start a new career and develop your skills.

  • Reliable and committed – consistency is incredibly important to the pupils.

  • Patient and compassionate – understanding that every child has different needs.

  • Adaptable and proactive – willing to try new things and take guidance.

  • A team player – ready to support colleagues and contribute positively.

  • Passionate about making a difference – wanting to help children and young people reach their potential.

Experience in care, childcare, sports coaching, youth work or similar roles can be useful, but it’s not essential. We can help you develop the skills you need through training and support.

The key is your mindset. You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you do need the right attitude, a willingness to learn and the commitment to show up for the children who need you.

You’ll need the Right to Work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS, or be willing to apply.

Ready to get started?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school, learn from experienced staff and build a career with genuine opportunities for progression.

If you’re looking for more than just another job and want to do something meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.
