Job Description:

Join us, be part of more.

We’re more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers, a team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, while living our commitment to positive change in communities. Here, you can find more purpose, passion, and potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently — we make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering UK homes and businesses for over 200 years. We’re also making the UK greener and more energy efficient, using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.

About your role:

Your mission is to help us mend it by diving into kitchen appliance repairs. Age, gender, background? All irrelevant! We value your drive, passion, and fire. You are welcome for who you are, regardless of your background or how you power your home.

Kitchens are the hubs of our customers’ homes, and appliances are essential. When things go wrong, you’ll help them get those spuds roasting again — a true engineering superhero! At our training centre, you’ll learn the skills and earn qualifications to become a top-tier Kitchen Appliance Engineer. Under experienced engineers, you’ll soon be in homes around your area, helping customers get their appliances back in action.

This role is hands-on and focused, but rewarding — ensuring families’ ovens bake and fridges chill every day. We offer a training wage starting at £25,970, rising to £37,104, plus London weighting allowances of up to £6k for those in or starting in London.

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualification in engineering, mechanical, or electrical subjects (desirable) and/or technical experience
  • A passion for learning a trade, a successful career, and providing excellent customer service
  • A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less
  • Availability for 5 weeks of training in Wakefield, with accommodation and travel provided if needed

We are recruiting trainees in the following areas:

  • Glasgow South & Renfrewshire
  • Leeds & Harrogate
  • Stockport
  • Cardiff & Vale
  • Wiltshire
  • Reading
  • Bedford & Cambridge
  • Ealing & Watford
  • Bromley & Dartford

Why should you apply?

We’re a people-focused place that supports diverse realities. Life is more than work. Our rewards are flexible to meet your needs, supporting you physically and emotionally, not just financially. Discover why we’re a great place to work and what being part of more means for you.

If you’re energetic, passionate about sustainability, and eager to improve yourself and the world, join a team where your voice matters, growth is a priority, and your ambitions are supported.

Help us, help you. Share your information throughout our recruitment process to help shape your journey.
