Job Description:

Join us, be part of more.

We’re more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers, a team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels. We are committed to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, passion, and potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently—we make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell and mend energy solutions.

We’ve powered UK homes and businesses for over 200 years. We’re also making the UK greener and more energy efficient, moving closer to Net Zero. We use technology like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.

About your role:

Your mission is to help us mend by diving into kitchen appliance repairs. Age, gender, background? All irrelevant! We value your drive, passion, and enthusiasm. We welcome everyone regardless of where you come from or how you power your home.

Kitchens are central to our customers’ homes, and appliances are essential. When they break, you’ll be there to help get things running again as a top-tier Kitchen Appliance Engineer. You’ll receive training at our state-of-the-art centre, gaining skills and qualifications to work in customers' homes, helping families keep their appliances working.

This role involves hands-on work, but it’s rewarding as you help families daily, ensuring their ovens and fridges function properly. We offer a training wage starting at £25,970, rising to £37,104, with a possible London weighting allowance of up to £6,000 for those in or near London.

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualification in engineering, mechanical, or electrical subjects (desirable) or experience in a technical role
  • A passion for learning, a desire for a successful career, and excellent customer service skills
  • A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less
  • Availability for 5 weeks of training in Wakefield (accommodation and travel provided if needed)

We are recruiting in these areas:

  • Glasgow South & Renfrewshire
  • Leeds & Harrogate
  • Stockport
  • Cardiff & Vale
  • Wiltshire
  • Reading
  • Bedford & Cambridge
  • Ealing & Watford
  • Bromley & Dartford

Why should you apply?

We’re a people-focused organization supporting diverse needs. Our rewards are flexible to help you balance work and life, supporting you physically, emotionally, and financially. Discover why we’re a great place to work and what being part of more means for you.

If you’re energetic, passionate about sustainability, and eager to grow personally and professionally, join us. Your voice matters, your growth is prioritized, and your ambitions are our goals.

Help us, help you. Share your information throughout our recruitment process so we can understand and support your journey.
