A healthcare provider in Rochdale is seeking candidates for a 3-year fixed-term training post in Health Psychology. The role involves working in a team to provide psychological assessments and therapies, including CBT. Applicants should have a recent BPS-accredited Health Psychology MSc. This post, offered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, is for candidates wishing to complete stage 2 (professional doctorate) training in Health Psychology. The appointment is for 3 years fixed term, during which the candidate will receive formal training through the university. Post-completion, there will be a write-up period to be completed outside of working hours.
The role involves working 4 days per week in a paid position within the Psychological Therapies in Physical Health team, alongside one day per week dedicated to their Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology, including attending university training sessions. Candidates must evidence the necessary learning requirements as part of their role. Please note, the doctorate is self-funded.
Applicants should ideally have completed a BPS-accredited Health Psychology MSc (Stage 1) within the last 5 years. If more than 5 years ago, evidence of ongoing practice in health psychology is required, which can be demonstrated at interview.

The post involves working within a small team providing psychological therapy assessments to patients with physical health conditions, managing clinical caseloads, offering evidence-based therapies like CBT, developing and delivering training, providing consultations, designing interventions, and conducting research including empirical studies and systematic reviews. The role requires an understanding of mental and physical health comorbidities and mental health difficulties of varying severity.
