Job description

We are looking for a trainee head chef who will work alongside our current head chef throughout summer, before taking over in September. We are a flourishing business in the heart of Roehampton, and use seasonal British ingredients to make up our incredible ever-changing menu. With our vision to make this the next foodie hot spot in the south west, whether you've got a wealth of experience as Head Chef, or a Sous who's eager to take the next steps in their career. Over the summer months you will have access to our Sous chef to Head chef fast track course at the FDLC and work with our Development Chef, allowing you to transition with ease into our way of working.

Our current menu and menus going forward have sole creation in house so a creative flare and passion for food is essential.

What we look for in a Head Chef:

This role requires someone that can inspire a team, to bring out the potential and lead by example whilst being able to develop, cost and produce fresh seasonal menus for the variety of revenue streams within the business.

  • Experience championing excellent service through quality food either as a Head Chef or in the position of Sous Chef
  • Demonstrate a passion for leading and developing a team
  • Be an active hands-on team player with excellent communication skills
  • Be responsible and able to manage the kitchen staff rota, training and all health and safety effectively at all times
  • Demonstrate creativity and ability to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials
  • Demonstrate great planning and organisational skills, necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP and labour
  • Have a pro-active approach to driving sales and delivering growth, through engagement with both kitchen and front of house teams
