Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Limited is seeking a Trainee Automation Engineer in the East Midlands area (Leicester working with nearby towns). You will receive full training and hands-on experience in installing, wiring, and commissioning automated gate systems for residential and commercial clients.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with site-based work and some travel to customer locations. A full UK driving licence is essential and a proactive, hands-on attitude is required.

Trainee Automation Engineer

On offer is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering business where you'll receive hands‑on training from experienced engineers, working on the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of automated gate systems for residential and commercial customers.

This well-established company designs, manufactures, installs, and maintains electric gates, entry systems, bollards, barriers, and other automation products. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Trainee Automation Engineer to their close‑knit team, offering long‑term career progression into Junior Engineer and Engineer positions.

The day‑to‑day of this role includes assisting with the installation and commissioning of automated gate systems, wiring motors and control equipment, running and terminating cables, supporting fault finding and testing, and carrying out groundwork including trenching, fitting gate posts, and basic metalwork.

The ideal candidate will be practical, reliable, and eager to learn. You will have a genuine interest in engineering, enjoy hands‑on work, and be happy working both indoors and outdoors. A full UK driving licence is essential.

The role:
