Job description

Games Workshop is recruiting a position for a Trainee Freeform Engineer. In this exciting role, you’ll work within a team that creates the tools that produce the best fantasy miniatures in the world.

This is a trainee position where you’ll follow a structured training plan and join our talented toolroom team. This is a technical computer-based role and involves learning to use a range of advanced software packages. You’ll learn how to use the latest 3D Tooling software to produce error‑free digital files, ensuring the files represent what the Miniature Designers intended while at the same time meeting the standards necessary for them to be used in an injection mould tool.

Our Toolroom receives product designs from the Studio that are designed to be manufactured in plastic. Your role is to analyse and enhance these, ready for our tooling process. This requires meticulous attention to detail and effective communication skills, as you’ll discuss the designs with design teams to agree on any adjustments required to ensure accurate production into a steel mould tool while adhering to the initial designs. You’ll need to develop great relationships and have the right conversations with the right people at the right time.

You’ll understand that precision and collaboration are essential, as the final process is to check each other’s work and to export the parts for the next process, in which our tool designers make the injection mould tool.

We’re looking for someone who has a genuine interest in Engineering, thrives on new challenges, and enjoys working in an environment where you’ll continually challenge what you do and to seek ways of improvement.

It can take over a year to be competent in this role, so patience and dedication are necessary for you to succeed. This is a unique opportunity and offers the chance to forge an exciting career in Engineering. Once you have proven yourself as a Freeform Engineer, there may be future opportunities to progress.

If you have a minimum of Level 4 in Maths and English, are computer literate and are focused on developing your career in Engineering.
