Trainee Food Safety Practitioner/Food Safety Officer/Environmental Health Officer (Commercial)

Salary is: £32,654 - £45,718 per annum plus benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Commercial team. We are looking for a professionally qualified and skilled practitioner/officer who is competent, confident, enthusiastic, and highly motivated to fill the post of a Food Safety Officer or Environmental Health Officer. You will be part of a small team of officers to deliver a range of activities which fulfill the Council’s statutory food and health and safety function. Applications will be accepted from those officers who are qualified but working towards their food competency.
Environmental Health Officer - Holds a BSc/MSc (or its antecedents; or equivalency certificate) in Environmental Health; and registered by the Environmental Health Registration Board or the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health to practice as an Environmental Health Officer/Practitioner; and meets the baseline competency requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice for an Authorised Officer.

Food Safety Officer - Holds a Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board or the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health; or another “suitable qualification” as defined in the Food Law Code of Practice for an Authorised Officer; and meets the competency requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice for an Authorised Officer; and with recent experience of carrying out relevant food safety interventions.

Trainee Food Safety Practitioner – Holds a Food Premises Inspection Higher Certificate or level 6 Higher Diploma in Food Control and has experience of dealing with the public, commercial businesses, and professionals.
This is a career-graded post, and the starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
