Trainee Farm Trader

Our client is seeking a Trainee Farm Trader to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in Agriculture to manage and expand existing farmer customer contacts while building long-term relationships with new customers in the area.

Position Overview

The Trainee Farm Trader will play a crucial role in developing and supporting farmer suppliers, negotiating purchase contracts, and selling fertiliser, seed, and specialist crop contracts. This position is essential in maintaining and growing the company's business relationships across the UK.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and support farmer suppliers aligned with company values
  2. Buy Grain, Oilseeds and Pulses from established and new customers
  3. Negotiate purchase contracts within established price range and terms
  4. Sell fertiliser, seed and specialist crop contracts
  5. Plan and manage work time to maximise customer contact
  6. Respond and follow up on sales enquiries appropriately
  7. Monitor and report market activities accurately and timely
  8. Coordinate sampling and testing of commodities for purchase

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a high degree of commercial awareness
  • Attention to detail even when working to challenging deadlines
  • Experience working in an arable farming environment
  • Understanding of farming and the countryside
