Due to continued growth in demand, our client is looking to appoint a Trainee Farm Business Consultant to join their professional team. This is a great opportunity to build a consultancy career under the guidance of experienced professionals in the sector.
You may be a recent graduate, early-career professional, or someone with farm consultancy experience looking to move somewhere new. Crucially, you will be numerate, curious, and confident engaging with farmers.
The role offers genuine variety there will be time spent on-farm, at home, and in the office. Over time, you will build your own client base and take increasing ownership of advisory work.
Responsibilities:
As part of a close-knit team, you will work alongside established consultants delivering high-quality advice to a wide range of farming clients. Your work will span:
Whole-farm business reviews and strategic planning
Financial budgeting, benchmarking and enterprise costings
Supporting environmental scheme applications (e.g. SFI, CS, capital grants)
Ongoing business support through regular farm visits and advisory contact
You will bring:
A degree in agriculture, rural business, or a related subject (desirable)
Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel (essential)
Good numerical ability (Maths GCSE/A Level desirable)
Practical understanding of farming systems and challenges
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to mediate and diplomatize, good people skills
Ability to learn quickly, confidence to ask questions
An interest in Agri-policy, rural development or business performance
Full UK driving licence
Previous farm consultancy experience is not required training and mentoring will be provided from day one.
