Job summary

Interaction Recruitment PLC is recruiting for a General Labourer / Trainee Fabrication Operative in Cottenham, Cambridge. The role offers full training across CNC punching, folding, welding and other fabrication processes.

You will start with general labouring duties and workshop support, with opportunity to learn hands-on fabrication skills in a busy engineering environment. Training is provided, with clear long-term development in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in general labouring, warehouse, production or manual work would be advantageous but is not essential.
• A hardworking and reliable attitude.
• Willingness to learn new skills and operate machinery.
• Good practical ability and confidence working with your hands.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Comfortable carrying out physical and manual duties.
• Good timekeeping and attendance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to assist with different workshop tasks.
• No previous engineering or fabrication experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general labouring duties within the fabrication workshop.
• Assisting skilled fabricators and machine operators.
• Moving, handling and preparing metal materials and components.
• Loading and unloading machinery.
• Assisting with general production and assembly work.
• Grinding, deburring and finishing metal components.
• Using basic hand tools and workshop equipment.
• Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised.
• Checking components for quality.
• Supporting different departments within the workshop.
• Following health and safety procedures.
• Learning to operate fabrication machinery under supervision.
