Job description

Trainee Estimator - Manufacturing (Joinery & Metalwork)
Location: Birmingham (Close to city centre)
Salary: 25,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:50am - 4:50pm (36.25 hours per week)

Pertemps are currently working on behalf of a highly respected manufacturing firm based in Birmingham, specialising in high-end joinery and architectural metalwork. Due to continued growth and investment in the next generation of talent, we're now looking to appoint a Trainee Estimator to join their team.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a technical mindset who's keen to learn, progress, and grow within the manufacturing or construction sector.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Supporting the estimating team with pricing of new project enquiries
  • Assisting in sourcing material and subcontractor costs
  • Learning how to assess labour time and production requirements
  • Helping compile detailed quotations and tender submissions
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure projects align with estimates
  • Developing an understanding of both joinery and metalwork manufacturing processes

What We're Looking For:
  • Ideally some background in construction, manufacturing, or technical estimating - but full training will be provided
  • A keen eye for detail and strong numerical skills
  • Good communication and a willingness to learn
  • Interest in bespoke or precision-engineered products
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work well within a team

This role would suit someone with a hands-on mindset who's eager to learn the commercial side of manufacturing and develop a long-term career in a specialist industry.
