Job summary

A veterinary referral hospital in Newbury is seeking an enthusiastic individual for a full-time equine nursing apprenticeship. Qualifications

  • Must hold a grade 4-9 or A*-C in 5 GCSEs to include Maths, English and Science.
  • UK driving license required.
  • Willingness to achieve a Level 3 Qualification in Equine Veterinary Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Care of inpatients including administering medications and performing clinical checks.
  • Assisting in the theatre and helping to acquire diagnostic images.
  • Supporting veterinary surgeons 24/7 for routine and emergency care.

Job description

We are a busy equine referral hospital based in Newbury, West Berkshire and are looking to expand our nursing team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated person with a passion for horses and their welfare.

Our nurses have a variety of responsibilities, which includes the care of inpatients, administering medications, performing clinical checks, wound care, assisting in theatre, admitting and discharging patients and helping to acquire diagnostic images both in the hospital and on the road.

Applicant Requirements

For the Apprenticeship, the applicant will be required to hold a grade 4-9 or A*-C in 5 GCSEs to include maths, English and Science as well as have a UK driving license. You will receive full training for the role to study for and achieve a Level 3 Qualification in Equine Veterinary Nursing.

Your Shift Pattern

This is a full-time position which involves supporting our team of veterinary surgeons both in the hospital and out on the road 24/7/365 days a year to provide routine and emergency care to our patients. The role covers 39 hours per week, with shift work covering nights and weekends and bank holidays.
