Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed-term, full-time training post in Echocardiography at the Royal Hospital. This position is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by NHS England. Successful trainees will achieve BSE accreditation level 2 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography. More information can be found at NSHCS website.

Candidates must hold an undergraduate honours degree (1st or 2.1) in cardiac physiology or a relevant scientific subject.

Main Duties
  • Become proficient in adult echocardiography.
  • Report echocardiograms following BSE standards.
  • Complete and pass the PG certificate in echocardiography.
  • Pass all parts of the BSE level 2 exam within 18 months.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
  • Honours degree (1st or 2.1) in cardiac physiology or relevant scientific subject.
  • Ability to analyze scientific, technical, and medical literature.
  • Understanding of the role of an Echocardiographer and quality control in healthcare.
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision.
  • Knowledge to provide appropriate advice and clinical judgments.
  • Understanding of ethics, professional practice, NHS constitution, and patient-centered care.
Desirable Criteria
  • Interest in Echocardiography and its clinical application.
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot scientific equipment.
