Job description

Trainee Duty Manager, Barry Leisure Centre

Full Time / 40 hours - Salary: £27,018.72

The Trainee Duty Manager position is a key role within the company. It involves continuous customer and staff relations, offering a rewarding experience and serving as a springboard to a career in leisure management within a rapidly growing company.

Primary objectives:

  1. Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and customer care within the Centre.
  2. Develop and promote an engaging, innovative leisure programme to increase usage and profitability.
  3. Assume shift management responsibilities to maximize Centre performance and uphold customer service standards.
  4. Work closely with a current Duty Manager to gain valuable experience and knowledge.

The Person:

  • Ideally holds a First Aid at Work Qualification and a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification; training will be provided if not.
  • Pool Plant Operators qualification is desirable or must be obtained within a set period.
  • A qualification in Leisure Management, Sports Development, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Ability to gain respect from clients and team members, build strong relationships, and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Demonstrates commitment to good employee relations and delivering quality training.
  • Flexibility for shift work is highly desirable.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Desirable qualifications include NPLQ, Leisure Management Qualification, and Pool Plant Operators Certificate Levels 2 or 3.
  • Proficiency in Welsh is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in Leisure Centre Operations or related industries such as Hospitality, Retail, Activity Centres, or Holiday Parks is preferred.

The role is a regulated position requiring a DBS check. If not already held, the candidate must undergo a DBS disclosure.
