Job summary

Practice Plus Group is hiring a Trainee Dispensing Assistant at Emersons Green Hospital in Bristol. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) offers structured training and hands-on experience in ordering, dispensing and managing medicines within a busy hospital pharmacy.

You will work closely with pharmacists, nursing staff and doctors, maintain patient medication records, and develop practical pharmacy knowledge as you complete the Dispensing Assistant training programme.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• Good IT and keyboard skills.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• The ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Experience working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the dispensing and labelling of prescriptions in line with pharmacy procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient medication records using pharmacy systems.
• Ordering, receiving and managing pharmacy stock.
• Carrying out stock checks and ensuring medicines are stored safely and appropriately.
• Distributing medicines and stock to clinical departments across hospital sites.
• Working closely with pharmacists, nursing staff, doctors and wider clinical teams.
• Participating in audits, training activities and continuous service improvement initiatives.
• Completing the Dispensing Assistant training programme and developing your pharmacy knowledge and skills.
