Job summary

Practice Plus Group Hospital in Emersons Green, Bristol, is seeking a Trainee Dispensing Assistant to join our pharmacy team. You will gain hands-on experience in ordering, dispensing and medicines management while training to deliver safe, patient-centered care.

You will work with pharmacists, nursing staff and clinicians, learn procedures, maintain records and support stock control as you complete the Dispensing Assistant training programme.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• Good IT and keyboard skills.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• The ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Experience working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the dispensing and labelling of prescriptions in line with procedures.
• Maintaining accurate patient medication records using pharmacy systems.
• Ordering, receiving and managing pharmacy stock.
• Carrying out stock checks and ensuring medicines are stored safely.
• Distributing medicines and stock to clinical departments across hospital sites.
• Working closely with pharmacists, nursing staff, doctors and wider clinical teams.
• Participating in audits, training activities and service improvement initiatives.
• Completing the Dispensing Assistant training programme and developing pharmacy knowledge.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and develop within a busy hospital pharmacy environment. You'll receive training and support while gaining hands-on experience in the ordering, dispensing and management of medicines, helping to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care.
