Job description

We are looking for a self-motivated and flexible individual tojoin our busy dispensary team. Main duties will include processingand dispensing of prescriptions. Providing an efficient and friendly servicefor our dispensing patients. In this position you will work alongside our teamof dispensers and receive support from our GPHC registered pharmacytechnician/dispensary manager.

You will be offered training in the dispensing and supply ofmedicines, teamwork, pharmacy law and ethics, patient-centred care and healthand safety in the workplace.

Youwill be expected to complete the Dispensary Assistant course that is deliveredonline by Buttercups Training.

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate from Buttercups training Ltd. Whilst we hope that you can continue from this Trainee role into a qualified dispenser role, this qualification does not guarantee future employment as this is dependent on available hours at the time of your course completion.

Monday 12pm-8pm

Tuesday 1pm-6pm

Wed 9am-6pm

Thu s 8:30am-6pm

Friday 9am-4:30pm

Saturday, every other week 8:30-11:30am

35 hours/39 hours, averaging 37.5

Main duties of the job

You will be expected work along the dispensary team to learn how toissue and prepare prescriptions, collect prescription charges/check patientexemption statements and maintain full and accurate records of all dispensingtransactions.

You will also play a vital role in the operation of efficientstock control, appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective offensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage. Ensuringthat drugs are received and stored in an appropriate manner in accordance withthe manufacturers instructions

The post-holder will project a positive and friendly image topatients, staff and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional,courteous and efficient way.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary

To processall relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses whereappropriate in accordance with the principles of good practice.

Tocomply with all guidance and training in relation to the role.

Tosubmit any coursework in timely manner meeting the requirements of the providedtraining course.

Toensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against theprescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item,or about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorisingclinician.

Tocollect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration onthe reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.

Toensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice areappropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financialtransactions.

Toendorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms ina secure manner to the PPA for processing and reimbursement. The forms shouldbe bundled in accordance with current PPA guidelines and include any necessaryaccompanying paperwork such as the FP34D and invoices as required by the PPA.

Topromptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to thepractice manager or dispensary manager according to practice policy.

Tonotify the authorising doctor of any FP10 returns/feedback from the PPA so thatany appropriate remedial action may be taken.

Tooperate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice withthe objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimisingwastage through out-of-date stock.

Toensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with theaccompanying instructions.

Toensure shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a highlevel of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment iskept clean and kept in good working order.

Totake prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be receivedfrom time to time.

Toensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and tomaintain a temperature control record/logbook.

Tomaintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporatingthe use of computers when available and appropriate.

Toundertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain ahigh standard and efficient dispensing service.
