About the opportunity

As a Trainee Dispenser working within one of our stores, you will be a key member of our pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy and healthcare services.

While completing your Dispenser training (NVQ2), you will build relationships with patients by listening and understanding their needs. Your tasks will include greeting customers, dispensing prescriptions, ensuring the safe sale of medicines, and providing healthcare advice to support patients in making informed health decisions. This role is based in-store within the UK; remote applicants and candidates outside the UK will not be considered unless they can demonstrate relevant UK qualifications and right to work.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Complete your training for the Pharmacy Advisor NVQ2 programme.
  2. Dispense prescriptions safely, including ordering medicines, labelling, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  3. Assist in managing and delivering pharmacy services alongside healthcare professionals.
  4. Provide care and advice about medicines and refer queries to the Pharmacist as needed.
  5. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for safe and legal dispensing.
  6. Stay updated on store innovations and operational processes.
  7. Support patients in managing their prescriptions and medicines effectively to promote adherence and reduce waste.
  8. Work with new technologies to improve dispensing processes and patient safety.

You will receive regular training to enhance your healthcare knowledge and have opportunities for career development, including training as a Pharmacy Technician or store leader.

What you’ll need to have:
  • A desire to learn and complete the Dispenser training programme (NVQ2).
  • Current and valid UK right to work. This role is not eligible for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa.
It would be great if you also have
  • Experience working in community pharmacy.
Our benefits
  • Discretionary Christmas Gift Payment
  • Generous staff discount
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave pay and gift card for expecting or adopting parents
  • Flexible benefits scheme
  • Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health, our Employee Assistance Programme
