Job summary

NLDC LTD in Crawley, West Sussex, is offering a permanent Trainee Dental Nurse position. No prior nursing experience required; full workplace support and guidance will be provided as you work toward a GDC recognised Dental Nursing qualification.

Qualifications

• We welcome applicants who are interested in starting or are currently working towards a GDC recognised Dental Nursing qualification, such as the NEBDN Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing.
• Approachable, polite and able to communicate clearly with patients and colleagues
• Patient and reassuring when caring for nervous or anxious patients
• Organised, punctual and reliable
• Willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
• Able to work effectively within a busy clinical team
• Comfortable using basic computer systems and maintaining accurate information
• Respectful of patient confidentiality and professional standards
• Hepatitis B vaccinated or willing to complete the necessary immunisation programme
• Legally entitled to work in the UK
• Able to provide a valid National Insurance number

Responsibilities

• In this trainee position, you will support the smooth running of the practice while building your clinical skills and confidence.
• Your responsibilities will include: Assisting the dental team during a range of patient appointments
• Ensuring surgeries are clean, prepared and ready for each patient
• Setting out the required instruments, materials and equipment before treatment
• Supporting patients from arrival through to the end of their appointment
• Offering calm, friendly reassurance to patients who may feel nervous about dental treatment
• Helping clinicians provide efficient and effective chairside care
• Cleaning, processing and sterilising instruments in line with practice procedures
• Following all relevant infection control, cross contamination and health and safety requirements
• Helping reset and prepare surgeries between appointments
• Updating and maintaining patient records accurately where required
• Protecting patient privacy and maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Contributing to a tidy, safe and well organised working environment
• Communicating effectively with dentists, therapists, nurses, reception staff and other members of the practice team
