This is a fantastic opportunity to join our eCommerce Data team as a Trainee Data Engineer! Based at NEXT Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire with a competitive starting salary of £30,238 and great benefits!
The eCommerce Data Team provides the department and the business the means to see what is working and what is not by drawing data and analysing patterns of shopping on our site and in general.
About the role:
A Trainee Data Engineer will sit within the Engineering team, to support our Data Engineers to better our architecture and website platform offering. This is done through researching and trialling new technologies, keeping up to date with the industry to ensure we are keeping ahead of the game and reducing latency and increasing efficiency and data quality. What else is involved?
- You will be researching and trialling new technologies for different purposes across the wider marketing analytics team.
- You will learn how to build data pipelines / data flows in the cloud and how to work with databases
- You will gain knowledge of transferring data to and from Google, Meta, other Social media platforms and third parties.
- You will support the Data Engineers with processing BigData on largedatasets with billions of rows.
- You will be learning how to improving efficiencies and quality of data provided, creating dashboards and handling errors through alerts
- You will be working with tools and platforms including:, Azure,GCP, DataBricks, BigQuery,
- You will learn about building and working with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- You will learn a key understanding of best practises within data; Code Review, Documentation and Data Quality
About you:
- You will be an analytical person.
- You will have a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant fields.
- You will be a good communicator, comfortable presenting and sharing ideas with other team members and senior stakeholders.
- You will have strong experience of using Python, Spark, SQL and a broad understanding of working in a cloud based environment.
- You will be organised, thorough & excited by a challenge.
- You will be willing to learn different coding technologies and analytical platforms
- You will be good at prioritising workload to meet requirements and tight deadlines.
