Job Title: Trainee Customs Clearance Clerk

Location: Haydock (WA12 0HQ)

Salary: £26,000- £30,000 (DOE)

Shifts: Monday- Friday 09:00- 17:30

Contract Type: Permanent

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Customs Clearance Clerk to join our client's growing team.

Our client operates in European Trailer Services, Bulk Chemical Tanker Service, Freight Forwarding Worldwide, Warehousing, Ocean Freight Service, and World Air Freight Service.

Reporting to the Customs Clearance Manager, your duties will include:

  1. Preparation of Customs reports for Customers.
  2. Preparation of Customs Declarations using Trader Support Service (TSS).
  3. Preparation of Export and Import Documentation on CDS for EU Shipments.
  4. Completion of Supplementary Declarations using Trader Support Service (TSS).
  5. Liaising with HMRC directly regarding Import/Export issues.
  6. Maintaining and updating internal systems to support the movement of goods.
  7. Ensuring accurate and timely lodgement of Customs documentation.
  8. Liaising with 3rd Party Agents to obtain Customs Clearances.

The successful Trainee Customs Clearance Clerk will have the following skills:

  1. Minimum 12 months experience in customs procedures both Import and Export.
  2. Ability to work toward and meet deadlines.
  3. Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  4. Possess team player qualities.
  5. Able to plan ahead.
  6. A proactive attitude.
  7. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
