Working Hours: We’re offering you a 35-hour week with shift patterns running from Monday to Friday between 8am to 6pm. As well as no weekend working, we offer a hybrid working model which means that once you’ve completed probation, you can work from the comfort of your own home for up to 80% of the time. You'll also have the chance to extend your contractual hours up to 40 per week, with condensed working hours optional too.
Start Date: You’ll join as part of a cohort on 7th July.
About the Role
Are you ready to start a rewarding career where you can learn, grow, and make a real difference? Join us here at NFU Mutual as part of a cohort of trainees and be a part of a supportive group learning and developing your career together.
You’ll be provided with all the knowledge and skills you need to become a competent Commercial Underwriter, where you’ll play a key role in helping our commercial customers to protect their businesses from potential risks like water damage, theft, or property damage. We’ll teach you how to assess and evaluate these risks to determine the best insurance coverage for each business, ensuring they are properly protected under appropriate terms and conditions. You’ll work closely and build relationships with our NFU Mutual Agencies, who are the main contact point for our customers, to manage risks and provide the best insurance solutions.
To help you become the best you can be, we’ll provide a comprehensive 5–6-month training programme that includes classroom learning, shadowing experienced colleagues, and receiving personalised support from managers and senior team members. This training is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to excel as an Underwriter. Once you have completed the programme, we’ll continue to support your career development, offering the opportunity to pursue formal insurance qualifications via our apprenticeship scheme should you wish.
Recruitment Process: Our recruitment process consists of a few simple steps: a brief online task, a friendly introduction call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team, and a skills-focused interview at our Glasgow office. Interviews will be held in May, with some sessions available in the evenings for your convenience.
This role is known internally as Commercial Underwriter.
