Job description

NHS Wales - Trainee Clinical Scientists Genomics (route 2). An exciting opportunity to use your honours degree in a pure or applied science relevant to genomics for patient and public benefit and gain specialist work-based experience through a nationally recognised training programme.

Starting salary will be on the first point of Band 6 on a 3-year fixed-term contract.

The NHS in Wales is offering 1 salaried postgraduate training programme in Genomics for high-calibre science graduates passionate about science and its role in patient care.

The Trainee Clinical Scientist (route 2) will be employed by the host organisation for a fixed term of three years. During this time, they will follow a work-based learning programme combined with the Academy of Health Care Science Equivalence Pathway to achieve registered clinical scientist status.

AWMGS, Cardiff University, Wales Gene Park, the Pathogen Genomics Unit (PenGU), and Welsh Government collaborate to deliver the Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy for patients within Wales, aligning with the Genome UK publication for a unified approach across all four nations.
