A major healthcare provider in Coventry is seeking a trainee clinical coder responsible for abstracting clinical information from patient notes and assigning codes under supervision. This 24-month training program offers opportunities for progression and requires participation in various training sessions. Ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented and willing to learn coding practices. The role includes collaboration with clinical staff and maintaining confidentiality according to GDPR guidelines.
To undertake the role of trainee clinical coder for clinical groups or specialties as appropriate, abstracting information from patient case notes and other sources, and assigning suitable codes onto the Trust’s patient administration system under supervision and guidance.
Participate in an ongoing supervised training period to acquire coding knowledge and expertise. Attend training sessions as necessary, maintaining up-to-date reference and standards manuals aligned with national guidance.

Progression: Upon completing competencies and passing internal assessments, you will progress to Band 4, which is expected to take up to 24 months.
