Job description

Here at Basil Fry (part of the Jensten Group), we are seeking a driven Claims Adjuster to join our Removal Claims Service (RCS) team.

Since the company was founded in 1970, Basil Fry has developed an in-depth knowledge of the removals and storage and self-storage industries. During over fifty years of trading, our expertise has enabled us to create a broad range of specialist insurance solutions, in-house claims teams, and market-leading risk management services.

Our Claims team are at the heart of our business; managing customers’ goods claims on a delegated authority for several different insurers. If successful, you will be working in a well-established, experienced team handling an allocation of Marine, Inland, and Self-storage claims. The team handles over 5,500 claims on a delegated authority basis annually.

This role is based in our Modern Leatherhead office, which is in easy walking distance from the station and bus routes. Initially working full-time in the office, a blend of office and home working will be available on completion of probation.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating claims under delegated authority in a timely and professional manner
• Evaluating insurance claims and determining coverage eligibility
• Ensuring all claims are dealt with in-line with policy wordings and requirements
• Negotiating with and conducting correspondence with Claimants/Removers/Insurers/Loss Adjusters/Repairers/Suppliers
• Instructing and liaising with other professional advisers on an “as required” basis – e.g., Solicitors, Valuers, Expert Witnesses
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all claim activities and communications

About You

To join us as Claims Adjuster, you will need to have previous claims experience from an insurer or broker setting. Whatever your background, you will be expected to have exceptional organisational skills and strong communication skills, to deal with insurers on a professional level and to work with clients and third parties.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand various Policy wordings
• Ability to use your own initiative and work well with others
• A strong communicator, both verbal and written, with the patience to remain calm in stressful situations
• A desire to work towards CII Qualifications (preferable)
