Job description

Ready for a change but not sure where to start? Discover a career in care.
No experience? No problem. If you are kind, patient, and want a job that truly makes a difference, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.

Located in the scenic town of Haddington in East Lothian, our luxury care home provides a warm, welcoming environment for older adults. From Residential and Dementia care to Nursing, Palliative and Respite services, we care for up to 68 residents with kindness, respect and compassion.

Now, we are looking for trainee Care Assistants — people who might never have worked in care before but feel drawn to it. Whether you’re returning to work, changing careers, or looking for purpose in your next role, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

What We Offer:

  • £12.70 per hour
  • Contracted or flexible hours – up to 48 hours per week
  • Paid PVG, uniform, onsite parking and free meals
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on full-time contract)
  • Full training provided – no prior experience needed
  • Two-week shadowing and induction with a dedicated buddy
  • Daily support from team leaders and clinical staff
  • Opportunities to gain qualifications and grow your career

Your Role:
You’ll work alongside experienced carers, learning how to support residents with personal care, mobility, mealtimes and companionship. You’ll build confidence through shadowing, regular catch-ups, and ongoing guidance. It’s not just about tasks – it’s about building relationships, bringing comfort, and being there for someone when it matters most.

Every smile, every chat, every helping hand – it all adds up to something meaningful.

Who This Is For:
This role is perfect for anyone looking to start a rewarding career in care. You might be:

  • Switching careers and looking for something more fulfilling
  • Returning to work after time away
  • Leaving school or college and exploring your first role
  • Simply passionate about helping others but unsure how to begin

If you bring the right attitude, we’ll provide the training and support to help you thrive.

About Us:
Haddington Care Home is part of Care Concern Group, a family-owned care provider with over 100 homes across the United Kingdom. We are committed to delivering high-quality care and creating supportive workplaces where people can learn, grow and truly belong.

Our five core values – Trust, Respect, Passion, Kindness, Inclusivity – guide everything we do. If these values resonate with you, this is the place to start something amazing.

You don’t need care experience to make a difference – just heart. Apply today.
