Doocey Group's Doocey Traffic Management division is seeking a Trainee CAD Technician to support the production of risk-assessed CAD drawings on projects nationwide. Training will be provided, and you will learn to create Traffic Management drawings under supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation.

No CAD experience is required; you will develop CAD skills, site interpretation, and client brief understanding while contributing to tender and project delivery.

Qualifications

• GCSEs at grades 9–4, including English and Maths.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Outlook.
• An interest in CAD, technical drawing, traffic management or civil engineering.
• Willingness to complete sector-specific training including Sector Scheme 12D M7 where required.

Responsabilités

• Learn to interpret site information, client briefs and Traffic Management requirements.
• Support CAD register maintenance with Administration Assistant for clear invoicing records.
• Help ensure drawings are submitted within agreed timescales and meet customer service levels.

• Produce sketches and drawing updates under supervision to aid tender build-ups and project delivery.
• Support operations with client technical queries and escalate as needed.

The Role

As a Trainee CAD Technician, you will support the production of risk-assessed CAD drawings in an efficient and timely manner while learning to account for specific client requirements. Working under guidance, you will develop the skills needed to produce Traffic Management CAD drawings for a range of projects, clients, locations and road types across the country.

All drawings must be completed to a high standard and in line with current legislation, client requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with producing CAD drawings to a consistently high standard in line with current legislation and company procedures.
• Learn to interpret site information, client briefs and Traffic Management requirements accurately.
• Support the maintenance of the CAD register with the Administration Assistant, ensuring activities are recorded clearly to assist invoicing.
• Help ensure drawings are submitted within agreed timescales and customer service-level requirements.
• Attend tender or project meetings when required to develop an understanding of drawing requirements.
• Produce sketches and drawing updates under supervision to assist with tender build-ups and project delivery.
• Support the operations team with client technical queries, escalating matters where appropriate.
• Attend mandatory training courses and complete the trainee development programme as required.

Technical Skills & Experience

• No previous CAD experience is essential; training and supervised development will be provided.
• Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software and technical processes.
• A positive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn and accept feedback.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely without compromising compliance.
• Good problem-solving skills and an organised, methodical approach to tasks.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
