Trainee CAD Technician - Plymouth
£25,000+ per annum (DOE) | Full-Time | Permanent | Furniture Design | Education Sector

Are you looking to start your career as a CAD Technician and develop your skills in furniture design and CAD drawing within a supportive and experienced team? Key Responsibilities

As a Trainee CAD Technician, you will work closely with the design and production teams to bring creative concepts to life. You'll gain hands-on experience in:

  1. Producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for panel products and bespoke furniture
  2. Supporting product development from initial concept to final production
  3. Assisting with supplier negotiations and sourcing materials
  4. Managing inventory and maintaining up-to-date records
  5. Collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth project delivery

Key Skills & Experience Required

We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, motivated, and ready to grow in a technical design environment. Ideal candidates will have:

  1. Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
  2. Qualifications and experience in technical design
  3. A keen interest in furniture design, manufacturing, or product development
  4. Understanding of panel product design (e.g., MDF, laminates, plywood)
  5. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  6. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
